Comment: There are two bears shown by this arrow. Another picture from the helicopter.
Polar Bear paws * Look at those big feet. Polar bears are very pigeon-toed. * 1600 x 1200 * (719KB)

Polar bear skulls * These are two polar bear skulls that were on display at the local Eskimo Museum. * 2048 x 1536 * (579KB)

Sylvia & Lorrie * Sylvia Sligar, my travelling companion, and me standing beside the warning sign. These signs were all around the edges of the small town of Churchill. There were meant as very serious warnings. * 1536 x 2048 * (543KB)

Moose and tracks * Believe it or not, there is a moose at the end of the arrow. You can see his tracks through the snow. This picture was taken from a helicopter and the pilot just couldn't hold still enough for me to get a good picture. * 2048 x 1536 * (363KB)

Moose and tracks * You can at least see the moose tracks - even if the moose requires a lot of imagination. * 2048 x 1536 * (559KB)

Tundra from the air * This view from the helicopter gives you an idea of the desolation of the Arctic tundra. It is all very flat and there are lots of shallow pools of water at this time of year. * 2048 x 1536 * (635KB)

Dog Sled 1 * NThis is the dog team that gave us a sample dog sled ride. * 1600 x 1200 * (570KB)

Our dog team * We took a short rest during our ride and got to visit with the dogs. * 2048 x 1536 * (559KB)

View from dog sled * This is the view from the dog sled. There are actually 11 dogs pulling a sleigh on wheels that holds 11 people. * 2048 x 1536 * (563KB)
